Yuki Tsunoda has been part of the AlphaTauri team, Red Bull Racing's training team, since this season. In a short period of time the Japanese driver has already made a big impression in Formula 1. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is also enthusiastic about him.

The rookie in Formula 1 started the season excellently in Bahrain. Where his teammate Pierre Gasly didn't finish the race, Tsunoda reached a fine ninth place in the final standings. With that, he conquered his first two points in a Formula 1 weekend and left former world champions Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel behind.

In conversation with RTL Deutschland Marko says he has a lot of respect for the way Tsunoda has started the season. "Yuki is only 20 years old and has done very little wrong so far. He has an amazing base speed and the way he overtook Stroll on the last lap in Bahrain was really incredible. He was 150 metres behind the Canadian."

Tsunoda soon on the podium

Tsunoda only has a length of 1.59 metres, which made it challenging for Alpha Tauri to set up the car. Nevertheless, it was no obstacle to a good opening weekend. "Even mentally he is very good, because he has an incredible self-confidence. I am sure we will see him on the podium soon."
