It's a good thing the Formula 1 teams and drivers have had time to change gears, because the conditions in Imola will be very different to those in Bahrain. It's a lot colder in Italy, and it might even rain on Sunday.

It's finally race week again after two weeks of waiting, and that means we can get ready for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. At the circuit in Imola the teams and drivers set foot in Europe early, and in April that doesn't always mean warm temperatures. That appears to be the case for the first European race of this season.

Rain in Imola

Where the Bahrain GP is held in the evening to allow for some normal driving conditions, it was still warmer than this weekend in Imola. Friday, Saturday and Sunday it won't be warmer than 14 degrees Celsius during the day, and in the evening not more than six degrees Celsius.

Fortunately, the race weekend is during the day, but the teams will have to adapt to the lower temperatures, and it will be interesting to see who does that best. Sunday will be especially exciting, as rain is expected for the day of the race. With a 68% chance of rain, the teams will need to bring rain tyres for this weekend.
