The second Formula E ePrix in Rome was held this afternoon, and victory was scored by Stoffel Vandoorne and Mercedes. However, Nyck de Vries and Robin Frijns were less successful.

An exciting rainy qualifying session saw the Belgian start from fourth on the Rome street circuit. The man on pole position, rookie Nick Cassidy, drove his Envision car into the wall on the very first lap, eventually finishing in 21st place.

Dutch drivers less successful

The races of Robin Frijns and Nyck de Vries were significantly less successful than those of Vandoorne. The two Dutchmen started from P19 and P18 respectively. Frijns finished, after a 30 second time penalty, in eighteenth place.

Nyck de Vries was involved in a crash on the final lap in Rome. With a P20, the Mercedes driver completed his unfortunate weekend.
