Red Bull Racing have finally closed the gap to Mercedes in 2021. In fact, Red Bull briefly seem to have the best car at the moment. According to Helmut Marko there is a lot of confidence with Max Verstappen.

Red Bull Racing have often been behind the times in recent years. Mercedes have been the strongest team every year and have won the world title seven times in a row. In 2021 however, we see a different picture. Lewis Hamilton won the Bahrain Grand Prix- but Verstappen had the fastest car all weekend and took pole position.

Stable RB16B

''We expected two tenths ahead. A gap of four tenths did surprise us, but that could also indicate an otherworldly lap from Max'', Marko said according to Auto, Motor und Sport. Their analysis mainly points to the stability of the RB16B, which means Red Bull's drivers are much more confident in their car this year.

''There are no tricky corners in Bahrain, which we are normally good at. So we don't believe that our strength was only related to this circuit. You can understand why Max is so relaxed. We only had to make a few small adjustments'', the Austrian concluded.
