At Austria's Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Juan Manuel Correa made his first metres in Formula 3 this weekend. Following his horror crash at Spa-Francorchamps in 2019, the two-day FIA Formula 3 test embodies Correa's official return to motorsport.

The Ecuadorian-American driver signed with Formula 3 team ART Grand Prix last February, ending his long period of rehabilitation. Correa was involved in the 2019 Formula 2 crash that took the life of Anthoine Hubert. During this time, the driver underwent multiple surgeries.

With a video on Twitter, Correa's first time in a car during the two-day test is shown. In it, Correa illustrates his return to racing in the following way: “I’m not sure what to expect, this is gonna be my first time driving this car. But I think driving is like riding a bicycle, once you get into the flow of it you never really forget it, so it’s very exciting."

Tribute to Hubert

In a video posted on his own Twitter account, the driver gives a behind-the-scenes look, showing off his helmet for 2021, complete with a tribute to Hubert. Anthoine's logo has a prominent place on the helmet. "I can't wait for the season to start," Correa concludes.
