Pirelli managed to complete the final 18-inch tyre test of its 2021 rubber on Thursday, after three days of testing at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain.

Ferrari and Alpine

Both Ferrari and Alpine provided 'mule cars' for the test, allowing Pirelli to gather new data on the new tyres that will be introduced next season.

While Ferrari completed 144 laps on Tuesday with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, Alpine's Esteban Ocon did the same on Wednesday with 100 laps. On Thursday it was the turn of experienced driver Fernando Alonso, who completed 144 laps on his own.

Alonso

"It was a great test day and the new tyres already feel good", Alonso told Motorsportweek.com. "The tyres are at an encouraging stage of development. Hopefully with all the laps I did today we can help Pirelli understand the tyres better."

The new tyres are one of the upcoming changes to the regulations for next season, aimed at improving racing and increasing competition at the front of the grid.
