The Albert Park circuit in Melbourne will get a major update. Several corners will be changed, making the track five seconds faster. Daniel Ricciardo was one of the drivers who was asked for input on the changes, something he was very happy with.

The circuit will be resurfaced for the first time in its 25-year history. In addition, seven corners will be modified. For this, a number of drivers were asked for input, including Ricciardo. "I was happy with that," says Ricciardo in conversation with Formula1.com. "We were allowed to give our thoughts and input. Not everyone will think the same about everything, but we all agree that we want to make racing on Sunday better."

Wider corners for more overtaking

He continued: "That's what I had in mind when I gave my input. Widening apexes, more straights for slipstreaming, that was the priority. I'm confident it will be good.

"There are some fast corners that are pretty narrow. That's why it's difficult to overtake there, but by creating a bit more space, that will provide more opportunities to overtake, or to change your line to get out of the dirty air. I think that will really help," said Ricciardo.
