From bad to worse for Vettel? Must report back to race control
- GPblog.com
The partnership between Aston Martin and Sebastian Vettel has had a difficult start. The car doesn't have the speed of last season and also Vettel himself doesn't feel comfortable with it. To make matters worse he was hampered by yellow flags during qualifying and that story might have an end.
It was Nikita Mazepin who spun awkwardly at the start of his last fast lap on Saturday, causing a yellow flag situation in Turn 1. For several drivers, their fast lap was ruined. A number of them were investigated if they had left the throttle before the yellow flag.
Only Vettel has to come back
The drivers involved were Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll, George Russell and Sebastian Vettel. Shortly after qualifying, the race committee concluded that none of them had broken the rules and so no penalties were imposed.
At the end of the evening, however, the FIA announced that only Vettel will have to report to them on Sunday for this incident. He is already starting more or less at the back, so it can't get much worse, but it is typical of the way he started at his new team.
