Charles Leclerc was perhaps the biggest surprise during qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Ferrari didn't look strong in pre-season testing, but the team have found some speed during qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
"I was also kind of surprised to be honest because I've been struggling tremendously all weekend," he said in a conversation with Ziggo Sport. "The second and third free practice were difficult. I just couldn't find the right feeling with the car."
Conditions got better for Ferrari
"So I worked a lot on the driving and in qualifying, I suddenly had the confidence that I would be able to do a good lap in those conditions. Before you do that you always have doubts whether it will work."
Reporter Jack Plooij then asks him if he can fight for the podium during the race. "I like your optimism. You can always fight for the podium, but in a normal race, we don't have the level of Mercedes or Red Bull. So I would be very happy with a fourth-place tomorrow, knowing that AlphaTauri is also very competitive at race speed," said a realistic Leclerc.
