Sergio Perez will drive his first Grand Prix for Red Bull Racing in Bahrain. The Mexican is doing well in the eyes of Christian Horner. What is particularly interesting according to him is that he is the first driver from a Mercedes background to drive for Red Bull.
Perez experience is very important
"He has so much experience, he has been driving in Formula 1 for ten years ," Horner said on Sky Sports F1 about Perez. The Mexican comes across as very relaxed and according to Horner, the experience is important to build on.
"He's under no illusions that Max is going to be a tough teammate. But he's just going about doing his own thing. He's had such little mileage in the car, but already you can see the benefit of that experience," Horner continued.
First man with Mercedes background at Red Bull
What is very interesting for Horner, and especially for Honda, is that Perez is the first Red Bull driver to have driven Mercedes engines before. "For the guys at Honda, that's incredibly interesting to compare," he said.
