What to do with Red Bull Racing after the Mateschitz and Marko era?

Red Bull Racing is still an adolescent in the world of Formula 1, but that doesn't change the fact that the leading figures behind the project are starting to get pretty old. Helmut Marko is 78 and his boss and good friend Dieter Mateschitz is just one year younger. What will happen to the team when they are gone?

Motorsport-Total.com dares to openly speculate about that as they look ahead to the new regulations for 2025. Red Bull may have to develop their own engines all by themselves by then. Both Marko and Mateschitz will be in their 80s, so it seems a logical step for Red Bull to enter into a partnership with Audi or Porsche, with the option of a full takeover remaining open.

Berger too busy to replace Marko

Gerhard Berger, who is good friends with both men, can hardly imagine an independent Red Bull without them either. "I think they are the key, the driving force," said the Austrian. Nevertheless, he doesn't dare predict that Volkswagen will take over the team just like that. The manufacturer has been talking about it for ten years but it has never happened.

He says he doesn't want to take over Marko's role because as DTM boss he is too busy and this demands all his attention. However, he is willing to assist his friends. "If Red Bull needs help with anything, I'll be available day and night," he said.
