Hamilton: 'This year the emphasis is on actions and not words'.

Lewis Hamilton is committed to combatting racism. The driver does what he can to stop racism and that will not change next year. The only thing is that next year he will not focus on words, but on actions.
The British driver told such in conversation with motorsport.com. He is pleased with Formula 1 's plans to improve diversity in the sport in 2021 and is happy with the talks that are currently taking place on the subject.
"Stefano took the time to sit down with us and be open in terms of how we can work together to improve the sport. We didn't really have a discussion, but it was explained to us what the plans are and that we can come back to them if we want to. It wasn't everything that's needed at the moment, but there are some improvements coming, which I think is positive."
We Race As One needs to focus on actions
Talks and slogans alone don't accomplish much, according to Hamilton. Sure, it's great to see diversity being worked on, but it would go a lot faster with actions instead of words.
"Last year there were a lot of slogans. Overwhelmingly there was 'We Race As One', but for this year we need actions. That's something that's been talked to and made clear to us. We need to make sure we continue that conversation and make sure what that action is for this year to grow diversity in the sport."
Exactly what the actions Hamilton is referring to will entail is still unknown. In any case, it's a good thing that opportunities are being looked at to make the sport a little more diverse. Who knows, more may come out on this subject in the future, but no doubt we will already see something happen during the 2021 Formula 1 season.
