Nico Rosberg was once world champion in Formula 1. The German did so as the son of Keke Rosberg, who also won a world title in the pinnacle of motor sport. Mick Schumacher is in a similar situation and so Rosberg has some advice for the 21-year-old talent.

"It's not easy being the 'son of'. And for Mick it's ten times harder, because Michael's times were not that long ago and he was much more successful," Rosberg judged in an interview with F1-Insider. Where Rosberg's father was the best once, Michael Schumacher was the best seven times.

In conversation with the German medium, the former Mercedes driver warned of the enormous media attention there will be in the first year."In the beginning maybe even bigger than with Lewis Hamilton. I hope Mick can put that aside and concentrate on his work properly - because otherwise it takes a lot of the fun away. The media won't give him time, but he has to do it himself," he said.

Patience is a virtue

What Schumacher Jr. and the media must not do is get impatient. For the next two years he will be at Haas F1 and it is not certain that he will be ready to fight for the World Championship when he moves to a new team. Putting pressure on him makes no sense. "After all, I had to wait seven years to win my first race and even eleven years to win the title. You have to keep that in mind when you evaluate Mick this year as well."
