Sergio Perez will be Max Verstappen's new teammate in 2021 and with that, it seems the Dutchman will finally face a challenge again. The Mexican doesn't see it as a battle though, and is very happy with his new teammate.

New Red Bull driver

Max Verstappen has had no resistance at Red Bull Racing since the departure of Daniel Ricciardo. Neither Alexander Albon nor Pierre Gasly came close to Verstappen, leaving him to carry the team on his own. With the arrival of Perez, that looks finally about to change.

After the winter test Perez joined the Beyond the Grid podcast, where the Red Bull driver was asked about his collaboration with Verstappen. ''The conditions during these days were very different, so I haven't really been able to see anything from Max yet. I think I will know more after the first three or four races, but at least he is a solid driver'', the Mexican said.

The battle with Verstappen

''In any case, he is very chil. He doesn't play political games, he just loves racing. We've had a lot of fun together in the time we've been together. We've had to do a lot of marketing stuff already. Two days we spent on that, and that was a lot of fun.'' Perez also doesn't see why there should be a huge rivalry.

''Max is a good guy who enjoys life. I also don't see why he should be afraid of me or why I should be afraid of him. We just both come here to do our job as best we can, and that's it'', concluded Verstappen's new teammate.
