Sebastian Vettel will fight for third place in the Constructors' standings with Aston Martin. According to the German, rivals Mercedes and Red Bull Racing could be just a step too far for the British team.
Vettel made the switch from Ferraru to Aston Martin after six seasons. The team he has joined went through life as Racing Point last year and made big strides compared to 2019. Racing Point finished fourth among constructors, just behind McLaren, but managed to win a race with Sergio Perez.
The car is already a success
"I think the car looks fantastic," Vettel said in an interview with Germany's RTL.
"Unfortunately, the look is not rewarded. We will have to fight hard for the points, but I think you can already see that it is an incredibly successful car.
"Of course, we still have to prove ourselves on the track and show that we have the potential to continue attacking in the future. At the moment it is difficult to set targets, but we will certainly try to give everything from the start," Vettel continued.
Mercedes, Red Bull and then Aston Martin?
Vettel hopes to open the attack on podiums, but remains realistic.
"I think the favourite role is shared between Mercedes and first challenger Red Bull Racing. but if we are behind them, that would be a big step for us."
