Sergio Perez jokes that Mexicans will start drinking more and more Red Bull from this year onwards, now that he will be racing for Christian Horner and Helmut Marko's team of the same name in 2021. In Mexico they drink a lot of tequila, but maybe that will change.

The alcoholic drink has already been replaced by cans of Red Bull, Perez told several Spanish-language media: "Red Bull is now our national drink, tequila we have already forgotten. The Mexicans are very excited and they really love the team and support us."

Perez finished no higher than seventh during his home races at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The 31-year-old driver now wants an immediate win in the RB16B when Mexico returns to the calendar after a year of absence (due to the corona virus in 2020). "I would like to win the race in front of the fans," he said.

Short preparation time

Perez had the chance to test in the RB15 last week to get used to the characteristics of the Red Bull car and all the procedures. Perez then drove the 2021 car for about 50 kilometres during the film day at Silverstone. Next week in Bahrain, a day and a half is scheduled for Perez to prepare for the new season with his new employer.
