Mick Schumacher is not too worried about the upcoming Formula 1 season. His team knows that a podium is out of the question and everyone is fine with that. For Schumacher, nothing is lost yet. He is just starting his F1 career and wants to make a strong start to next season.

The German driver won his last Formula 2 championship last season and will be allowed to drive in Formula 1 for the first time in a few weeks' time. Before that, things were a little different for Schumacher. He had to prepare from home, had to be in quarantine for his seat fitting and got to know the team in a different way than usual. Nevertheless, he is in good spirits and wants to make a strong start to his F1 career, he told Motorsportweek.com.

"It's basically a matter of starting the season strong. Hopefully, we can take everything I've learned in the past and perform at the high level we want."

Schumacher's chances are not very great this season

Although Schumacher is looking forward to it and his start in Formula One is promising based on his previous results, his chances remain pretty slim in 2021. Haas has not made many changes to the car and has already started work on the 2022 car. Next year, therefore, Schumacher is unlikely to have a podium in sight, but that does not seem to bother him.

"One of the preparations I have already made is to form a strong bond with the team. I am very happy with that. In addition, I am mentally as strong as I can be and that is very important in any situation."

The driver from Germany is currently preparing for the first race that will take place in Bahrain in a few weeks.
