Charles Leclerc has been racing in Formula 1 for several years now. Since 2018, the driver from Monaco has been racing in the highest racing class. Nevertheless, he had to get very used to his new environment at the beginning.
In 2017, Leclerc won the Formula 2 championship. It earned him a seat at Sauber the following year. Alongside driver Marcus Ericsson, he made his F1 debut, but that did not go without a hitch. Especially at the beginning, it was a shock for Leclerc to drive among drivers he only knew from television.
Leclerc intimidated
"I think in the first few races in Formula 1 once I arrived it’s quite a shock that all of the drivers I used to watch on TV, I was racing them," he told MotorsportWeek.com.
"So in the first few races I have to say I was quite intimidated, but then you cannot keep going like this."
"After a few races you just get used to it and now every time I fight a driver on track for me, I don’t think about what this person has achieved."
