Kimi Raikkonen will start his 19th season in the premier class of motorsport this year, and he has explained in the press conference after the unveiling of the C41 what still attracts him to the sport after all these years of racing.
On March 4, it will be 20 years since Kimi Raikkonen made his debut in Formula 1 for Sauber. In a press conference, Raikkonen was asked for his opinion about his long and eventful career in Formula 1.
"Time goes quickly, obviously it’s quite a long time ago. But then I was out of F1 for a couple of years in the middle of it, so it doesn’t feel like twenty years.”
Looking back at his beginnings in Formula One, Raikkonen added: “I didn’t know that much of F1, I had done some testing the year before, but most of the places were new. I just tried to learn and do the best that I could. It worked out okay.”
Still crazy about racing
The most experienced driver on the 2020 grid was also asked about what exactly interests him about the sport.
"I like the racing and the driving, I've never been a big fan of all the rest but, you know, otherwise if you take that out it’s not the same. I enjoy the racing and the challenge to drive and improve things and getting better."
