While Formula 1 is still a month away from the start of the season, racing fans already have something to look forward to. Next week, Formula E starts again. 24 drivers will compete on a variety of tracks designed specifically for Formula E, mainly street circuits. With five days to go until the first action, we take a look at the field for next season.

There are no changes for the reigning champion, DS TECHEETAH. Reigning drivers' champion Antonio Felix da Costa and two-time champion Jean-Eric Vergne will be in charge, while Nissan e.dams will be running with Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland. There will be two Dutch entries: Nyck de Vries and Robin Frijns.

Many familiar names

Frijns, who has been racing in Formula E for a long time, will be back with Envision Virgin Racing next season. His teammate will be Nick Cassidy, who will make his debut in Formula E. Mercedes, like DS TECHEETAH and Nissan e.dams, is sticking to its 2020 line-up of Stoffel Vandoorne and De Vries.

Audi has Frijns under contract as a factory driver, but the Dutchman will see his employer drive with Lucas Di Grassi and Rene Rast next season. Audi will be driving their final year in Formula E together with BMW next season. BMW i Andretti Motorsport will use Jake Dennis and Maximilian Guenther in their final year. Guenther and De Vries know each other from Formula 2, when they were competitors.

Sam Bird, a former teammate of Frijns, will join Jaguar Racing next year as Mitch Evans' teammate. Former F1 driver Pascal Wehrlein will make a comeback in Formula E with Porsche, with Andre Lotterer as teammate. Alexander Sims and Alex Lynn will be the drivers of Mahindra Racing and Edoardo Mortara and rookie Norman Nato will drive for ROKiT Venturi Racing. The name ROKiT looks familiar, as that sponsor has been associated with Williams for some time.

Finally, the Dragon/Penske team, who will drive with Nico Mueller and Sergio Sette Camera, and NIO 333. The team that is often found in the rear will drive with Oliver Turvey and Tom Blomqvist. Next week, Formula E starts in Saudi Arabia, with a unique night race.
