As Formula One's brand-new CEO, Stefano Domenicali has returned to the sport he has been involved with for years on a different level. In his career he has worked for Ferrari for 23 years, so he knows that team like the back of his hand. Now that he is on top as Formula One boss, he obviously has to take a neutral stance, but there is no shortage of ambition.

No advice

Speaking to Corriere Della Serre, Domenicali states that Ferrari is currently mainly looking for stability, but he doesn't want to get into any advice. "I see a company that is looking for stability that can guarantee competitiveness. I have nothing to recommend to my friend Mattia Binotto."

"At Ferrari, it's about staying focused on your priorities without being distracted by the enormous pressure that surrounds you," Domenicali said, pointing out that Ferrari is always under a different kind of pressure from the other teams. This makes it all the more difficult for Binotto to set the right course.

Clear goal

In his role, Domenicali now oversees Formula 1 and so has other things on his mind. His predecessors have paved the way for him and it is now up to the former Lamborghini boss to successfully continue the route. In doing so, Domenicali has a very clear goal.

He says: "Formula 1 was born thanks to Ecclestone and it grew thanks to his vision. Carey could take that baton and grow it in another dimension. My goal is to enhance this legacy and I feel they are both valuable references."
