Aston Martin are building a brand new factory in England. The construction of the factory has already been approved and, according to team principal Otmar Szafnauer, it should not cause any problems with the budget cap that came into effect from 2021.

Aston Martin makes great progression

Since Lawrence Stroll has been in charge at Aston Martin (formerly Racing Point), the team has been on the rise. Enough money, a legendary name and with Sebastian Vettel a four-time world champion as one of the drivers. The next step is a new factory. That should not pose any problems if we are to believe Szafnauer.

From 2021 onwards, the team will have a budget cap. That cap will decrease yearly until 2023. Then the team will be allowed to invest 'only' $135 million a year. But is such a brand new factory still necessary? "The original plan still stands", Szafnauer told Motorsport-Magazin.com.

Factory is adaptable

"If in the future - for whatever reason - the budget cap changes, the factory is adaptable. We all have to figure out first what compromises we have to make to stay under the cap", Szafnauer explained. According to the team boss, the construction of the new factory is still on schedule and should be completed in the summer of 2022.
