It is one of the most extraordinary stories of recent years in motorsport: Juan Manuel Correa will race again in 2019 after his horror crash at Spa-Francorchamps. On Monday, he took his first step towards his year in Formula 3.

Months spent in hospital

In the 2019 Formula 2 feature race, Correa was involved in a very serious accident that killed Anthoine Hubert. Correa ended up in hospital with very serious injuries to his legs, from which he had to spend months rehabilitating.

Early February the news came out that Correa would return to motor racing. The American will race for ART Grand Prix in Formula 3 in 2021. On Monday he made his first steps towards his return to motorsport during a private test at Paul Ricard.

Back in the cockpit

"15 February 2021: 533 days after Spa, I have gotten back, for the first time, behind the wheel of a formula car. It’s hard to describe with words what this means to me. All I can say is thank you to all of you who have supported me up to this point. AH was with me today", Correa said on Twitter.
