Great Britain lost a national hero on Tuesday after Captain Sir Tom Moore died at the age of 100. The war veteran captured the hearts of the nation after raising millions of pounds for the NHS by walking laps of his garden.

How Moore became a phenomenon in 2020

The veteran walked laps in his garden and the whole world was in awe of him and his achievements. Moore was knighted by the Queen in a special ceremony last year.

Lando Norris had been in contact with Moore and gave him one of his racing helmets as a present. Moore was also allowed a virtual visit to the McLaren garage during the British Grand Prix. Moore passed away after receiving treatment in hospital for pneumonia and testing positive for COVID-19.
