Giuliano Alesi made his first and last metres for Ferrari on Monday. The test at Fiorano was a farewell gift for the son of Jean Alesi, who now leaves for Japan.

Alesi is the son of former Formula One driver, Jean Alesi, who drove for Ferrari for five years. During that time he won one Grand Prix in 1995. In 1996, he had to leave Ferrari for the arrival of Michael Schumacher, but Alesi would spend five more years in Formula 1 with Benetton, Sauber and Prost. His son does not seem to have that talent.

Alesi not in Formula 1

Thanks to his father's warm ties with Ferrari, it was no surprise that the Frenchman was included in Ferrari's training programme in 2016. Of course, like Mick Schumacher, it was a unique name to have in your programme.

Alesi eventually won four races in three seasons of GP3, but never finished higher than fifth in the standings. The move to Formula 2 in 2019 didn't yield any shocking results either. Alesi finished 15th in 2019 and 17th in 2020. He was never on the podium. At Fiorano, he received a test as a farewell gift from the team, for which he thanked Ferrari on its website.
