The Haas F1 team will start this season in Formula 1 with two rookies: Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. Both drivers are inexperienced, but at the same time both want to show what they are worth in their first year in the pinnacle of motor sport. Helmut Marko hopes that team boss Guenther Steiner will be able to steer things in the right direction.

"Schumacher's first season will be difficult," Marko expected in an interview with RTL. The Red Bull Racing advisor told the German media that he could detect a trend in Schumacher. "In the junior classes he was also mainly learning in the first year and then fighting for the championship in the second season. It will be especially important to learn and maybe he can score some points a few times."

Team interest comes first

Mazepin and Schumacher will want to compete with each other and it is expected that there will be serious competition from the outset. The Haas F1 team does not necessarily benefit from that. The American team is focused on improving the car.

"I hope Steiner will be able to keep it under control. Someone who only cares about his own performance will not get there. As a team you also have to keep developing technically and for that you need the drivers at this level," said the 77-year-old Austrian.
