'Imola and Formula 1 agree, but price is another obstacle'

There is a good chance that the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in 2020 will be continued in the new Formula 1 season. Imola is in fact working hard to bring the royal class of motor racing to the historic circuit in 2021 as well.
In 2020, for the first time in years, the Imola circuit was used again for a Formula 1 race. The coronavirus threw a spanner in the works of the Formula 1 season and turned the entire calendar upside down. In a search for new places to organise a race, Liberty Media ended up with Imola in 2020.
F1 back to Imola
That was a good thing in Italy and so it wants to be on the calendar again in 2021 and, according to the Italian il Resto del Carlino, there is now a scenario ready with a Grand Prix on 18 April. The new calendar would start with a race in Bahrain and then move to Europe, where it would race at Imola, Portimao, Barcelona and Monaco.
According to the Italian source, there is a general agreement between the circuit and Formula 1, but only the price tag remains a problem. Imola knows that it has to come up with more money, but everything depends on the return of fans. As long as they cannot come, Imola will not be able to meet the asking price of F1, although it is still not at the usual level of 20 to 25 million euros.
