In 2020, Formula 1 managed to complete a season of 17 races, despite the coronavirus. An achievement that has not gone unnoticed by Helmut Marko.

''It's great what Formula 1 has achieved this year. Seventeen races in how many months,'' Marko is clearly impressed with the work Liberty Media has done in 2020. According to the Austrian, there were many question marks over the rest of the season, but the leadership has acted optimally in the difficult conditions.

Complaining about Turkey

''I would also like to say that the people who laid the asphalt in Istanbul deserve a medal. I do not understand why the best driver in the world says it was impossible to drive there. The images were sensational and it was the same for everyone. A Williams doesn't slide more than a Mercedes, because the grip simply isn't there. For me that was a great moment of excitement," says Marko to Motorsport-total.com.

Marko can't agree with the fact that drivers didn't agree with the quality of the asphalt in Turkey. ''First of all, those drivers get paid enough to endure that and secondly, it was the same for everyone. Circuit like Mugello and Portimao too, that's much more in line with the racing I'm a fan of," concludes Marko.
