Sergio Perez leaves his team after seven years. First under the name Force India and the last two years as Racing Point. He had to make way for Sebastian Vettel, but is allowed to join Red Bull Racing after a long wait.

Great performance

Racing Point was able to compete for third place in the championship this season, but lost that place to McLaren at the last race. "It's a pity we didn't get third place," says Perez to Speedweek.com, "but McLaren did a good job and deserved this success. They really did a great job with their car and both drivers have done a strong performance every weekend".

Success in the future

At the beginning of the season, despite a contract, Perez was dropped to free up space for Sebastian Vettel's arrival at Racing Point. However, the Mexican does not hold a grudge against his old team. "I look forward to seeing them celebrate success in the future, because the future looks very bright for them."

Perez even leaves the team with a good feeling. "I will always be very proud of my boys. The fact that I was able to save their jobs with the team takeover in 2018 will always be one of the best decisions I've made in my life. It will always be my favourite team in Formula 1, because this team has always given the best of themselves and I, for my part, have done my very best."
