In a Youtube video for sponsor G-Star RAW, Edwin Evers talks to Max Verstappen. About music, but also about his upbringing.

Strict upbringing

When asked how he experienced his upbringing, he answers: "Tough. My father was very strict when it came to racing. I had to be serious about it, otherwise he wanted to quit. I had to give it my all, while other kids were playing".

"I also enjoyed playing soccer sometimes on a Saturday," Verstappen says. But his father Jos Verstappen didn't want to know anything about that. "But in the end, I am glad that he was so strict with me."

He is very grateful to his father for everything he has done for him. Between 2009 and 2013 they travelled frequently to Italy to participate in kart races. "I have a lot of respect for the fact that he did all that. Nobody does that for his son, not this extreme", says Verstappen.
