Haas takes decision on Mazepin: 'The case is closed'
- GPblog.com
There has been lots of talk about the position of Nikita Mazepin within the Haas team for next season. Because of his behaviour on and off the track, fans created an initiative to get him out of the car. This forced Haas to come up with a statement in which they say that they are sticking to their contract.
Mazepin has come under considerable fire since the announcement of his appointment with Haas. In the first place, this was due to his driving behaviour during Formula 2 on the Bahrain circuit, where he almost pushed some of his opponents into the wall with his defensive actions. Daniel Ricciardo, among others, was not happy with the fact that he will have to race against them next season.
More serious
Not much later Mazepin came in negative when he posted a video of himself touching a girl in the car. Although at first the woman in question said it was a joke and she didn't mind, she later contradicted this in another post online.
On social media, an initiative was set in motion which was supposed to put pressure on Haas to choose another driver. That was in vain, as is now evident. Haas says in their statement that they have dealt with the matter internally, and that's that.
