With the official announcement of Sergio Perez at Red Bull Racing, there remains one seat that is not yet fixed for 2021 and that is that of Lewis Hamilton. We can assume that the world champion will be there next season, but the contract negotiations are taking a very long time.

"We haven’t started a conversation", says Hamilton to The Race when asked about the progress of the contract negotiations. “Toto and I planned to do that over the coming days, we’ve been moving quite a bit over the past days travel-wise."

Hamilton is happy that Toto Wolff is staying

So there is still some uncertainty surrounding Lewis Hamilton's contract. What has now been established is that Hamilton will continue to have frequent dealings with Toto Wolff after these talks. The Austrian has signed up as team boss of Mercedes for three years. A fact that Hamilton is very happy with.

"On a super, super plus side I’m really proud and grateful to see Toto sign. He is such an important leading figure within this team, and the success that we have achieved would have not been possible without him. He is such a great figurehead. The team’s just better for it, to have that longevity."
