The former owner of Formula 1 has made his voice heard once again and is keeping his mouth shut. Bernie Ecclestone is very critical of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.

According to the team bosses, Charles Leclerc is one of the best drivers in Formula 1 at the moment. According to many, the Monegask only needs Hamilton and Max Verstappen in front of it. Bernie Ecclestone thinks very differently about that. "He is doing well in the sport and will continue to do so. But still I don't think we're going to see anything special from him in the future," says the Briton in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa.

Lewis Hamilton was also criticized by his countryman, but not about his performance on the track. "Of course there are no doubts about his talent, the results he has achieved speak for themselves. But outside the track he has raised some issues in the wrong way. In the silence behind the scenes, I think he could have achieved a lot more," says the 90-year-old businessman.

Not a fan of the current F1

Not only the drivers, but also the Formula 1 itself will get their money's worth from Ecclestone. "Formula 1 during the years of Alain Prost and Niki Lauda are more my thing. Back then it was the drivers who were behind the wheel, nowadays everything is done from the pit wall". According to Ecclestone, it is striking how many races have been won by pit stop strategies in recent years. Maybe it's time to start installing the sprinkler systems on tracks after all.
