Power Rankings: Does Hamilton keep the lead after Verstappen victory?
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix convincingly. A nice ending of the season for the Dutchman. Also by the experts of Formula1.com he is richly rewarded for this, because he is going to win the Power Rankings.
Verstappen receives a 9.6 from the panel for his performance in Abu Dhabi. Why that is not 10, it is not mentioned, but it could have something to do with the fact that Red Bull, according to the experts, had the best car on the Yas Marina Circuit.
Behind Verstappen, Lando Norris with a 9.0 and Daniel Ricciardo with an 8.4 fill the podium. With Ricciardo they take into account the idea that the Australian was performing above the level of his car. Something both Mercedes drivers failed to do and therefore we find them back in seventh and tenth place. Bottas with a 7.4 and Hamilton with a 7.2.
Hamilton has higher average
In the original final ranking, Verstappen, therefore, ended up with more than four points in front of Hamilton, but because the Brit was unable to compete in one race, a separate ranking was created in which the average score per race is leading.
Hamilton is at the top with an 8.9. Verstappen follows with an 8.6. Because Sergio Perez was also absent in two races, the Mexican rises to third place in this classification with an 8.2. The biggest losers in this list are Valtteri Bottas and Alexander Albon. Bottas is only just in the top ten and Albon is even outside of it.
