Max Verstappen is going to have fun on Sunday evening when he takes the plane to Monaco. The Red Bull Racing driver says he's going to 'drink a few gin and tonics' and suspects it is going to be fun.

"Yeah, it was fun on the track. This is a top result. We end the year very nice," says Verstappen in conversation with De Telegraaf about the last Grand Prix of 2020 in Abu Dhabi. The ten-time Grand Prix winner was able to easily keep Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton behind him on the Yas Marina Circuit.

For Verstappen it was a season of many faces. Once he was able to win from pole position on Sunday and twice he was able to outshine both Mercedesses, but there were also five retirements. In the end, the 23-year old Dutchman was 133 World Championship points short to take his first world title.

Time to enjoy for Verstappen

After seventeen Grand Prix in about five months it's time to catch up and relax. "Let's enjoy it now. A couple of gin-tonics will go into it. But we're not going to break down the plane. It's a long flight and we get home late into the night. But I'm sure it will be pleasant..." smiles Verstappen. According to the aforementioned medium two fellow passengers are former Formula 1 drivers David Coulthard and Paul Di Resta.

At Motorsport.com Verstappen says more about the intense season. "It has been tough for everyone, the mechanics, but certainly also for our people at the factory. They've had to develop all kinds of new parts and we've taken quite a few of those with us this year."
