It was a moment of euphoria in Red Bull Racing's garage after Max Verstappen crossed the line fastest. But not only was there happiness in the garage, Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz couldn't control his emotions either.

Even on the traditional 'Red Bull' circuits, Mercedes was the fastest this year, to the displeasure of the team from Austria. But on a typical Mercedes circuit, Max Verstappen finally managed to get pole position this season.

The joy in Red Bull Racing's garage was overwhelming, but Helmut Marko couldn't jump right into the celebration, he was on the phone. "It was Dietrich Mateschitz right away. He was very happy," says the consultant to German Sky Sports.

Marko also sees very good chances for a victory tomorrow. "Of course Mercedes is strong here, but if we get away well at the start and we're at the front, we can win the race. The pole position is an important sign for next year that all our work has paid off."
