RB16 basis for 2021 car Red Bull: 'Use 60% of the current car'

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner expects only 60% of the current car to last until 2021, despite the freezing of the regulations. For next season only a few adjustments may be made to the car.
RB16B will be similar to its predecessor
Few rule changes are planned for 2021 in Formula 1, all to save costs in a financially challenging year. Adjustments are possible on a few fronts and the floor will be adapted to reduce downforce.
Horner thinks that approximately 60% of the car from 2020 will be taken to 2021. "I would say 60% is the RB16B," the British team boss tells Motorsport.com.
2020 is a good basis
"As with all cars, we take a large number of parts with us to next year, we have a decent car at the base. I think we know where our weaknesses lie, so that's where we will focus next winter," Horner continues. The team boss of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon thinks that parts such as the chassis, the gearbox and the suspension elements will mostly be changed.
Horner thinks that the 2020 car will be a good basis for the car to be used in 2021. "We need to focus much more on a particular area or part when it comes to the possibilities for further development. You can see that in recent months we have come closer and closer to Mercedes. That is really encouraging," concludes Horner.
