Red Bull Racing still don't have a definitive lineup of drivers for 2021. Max Verstappen will stay in place is a fact, but Alexander Albon's place is uncertain. For Verstappen, a strong teammate is important, also in battles for positions with Mercedes. Something that Albon has not been able to achieve so far, but whatever Verstappen's opinion on this point, he leaves the decision up to Helmut Marko and Christian Horner.

The second seat at Red Bull

In conversation with the media Verstappen says: "I have an open relationship with Helmut and Christian so of course they talk to me", quotes Motorsport.com. "But that's about everything: Formula 1, private... and of course this sometimes comes up as well", with which Verstappen refers to the second seat on the team.

But he leaves the decision entirely in the hands of the people mentioned because the Dutchman does not interfere. "I don't decide in the end. I leave that to them and I don't interfere at all. I'll see what happens." Verstappen awaits it calmly and he does not seem to have any direct influence on the choice.

Is he going to miss Albon?

Verstappen also evades all questions about the near future, he said at the press conference that "at the moment it's out of the question" whether he would miss Albon if it were to be over at Red Bull Racing after this season for the British-Thai.

In addition, the Dutchman states: "I have always learned to start from myself", in response to the question whether he has learned anything from Albon this year. "There's no point in looking at your teammate. When you start copying, you are always slower, so I just focus on myself", says Verstappen.
