The fact Sergio Perez is one of the biggest contenders on the seat next to Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing but one man who won't be is George Russell.

Russell not an option

"Russell is not an option for us. Sure, he did a great job last Sunday, but several drivers would have done that in a Mercedes," the Austrian told F1-Insider.

Marko even has several arguments for it. "First of all, he is a Mercedes driver, secondly, he is managed by Toto Wolff. In any case, he told us in passing that he has a ten-year contract with Wolff. That is out of the question for us. We ourselves have young drivers whom we want to develop and who also have great talent.”

Tsunoda to AlphaTauri

One of those talents is Yuki Tsunoda, who will take part in the Young Driver Test for AlphaTauri next weekend. He is expected to take over Daniil Kvyat's seat next year. "Yuki is not only extremely fast and talented, he is also very funny and easy going," Marko said about his Japanese pupil.

The only question that remains is who will drive next to Verstappen in 2021. Perez has made a big impression in the past few races, but Marko doesn't let that fool him. "Sergio Perez's victory in Bahrain has no influence on our decision. We already knew the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates for the cockpit before." That decision will take some time. "After the last race in Abu Dhabi we will sit down together and then make the best possible decision.”
