There is still one Grand Prix to go and so Alexander Albon has one more chance to convince Helmut Marko and Red Bull to stay definitively at Red Bull Racing in 2021. After another difficult weekend he will have to do everything he can in Abu Dhabi.

Difficult race

With a twelfth place in qualifying and a sixth place in the race, the Sakhir Grand Prix was once again not one to write home to Albon. "It was okay," the Thai says in the Red Bull preview, "but it was a difficult race and a tricky circuit for us.”

Albon was particularly short on top speed, he says. "We were good in the corners but slow on the straights which just made racing much more difficult and we couldn’t really show our pace." All in all it was a difficult weekend. "Hopefully this weekend we’ll be more competitive.”

Experience with Abu Dhabi

One of the advantages Albon does have for this weekend is that he drove the Red Bull in Abu Dhabi before. "It’s a circuit we’ve driven a lot in Formula 3 and Formula 2 so I can use my experience into this year. Abu Dhabi is a nice one.”

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the last race of the season. "But that doesn’t mean any less effort goes into it. On my side I’m pushing hard to finish the season strong and we’ll be giving it everything like we always do.”
