Max Verstappen had a premature end to his Sakhir Grand Prix following the incident on the opening lap. The Dutchman has admitted he managed to catch the last 30 laps from his hotel room with a gin and tonic.

"Well, I had a gin tonic in the middle of the race, so that went pretty well," said the Red Bull Racing driver on 'Peptalk' on Ziggo Sport. "Of course I spoke to the press, but then I went back to the hotel. I have seen the last 20 or 30 laps, quite a bit of drama," he concluded laughing.

Max comments on Leclerc

Earlier last week Leclerc accused Verstappen of silly comments in the media when he was asked what he finds most irritating about Max. Then he said that the Dutchman sometimes makes some crazy statements in the media, only to add that Formula 1 also needs outspoken drivers.

"If that's what he thinks, he shouldn't read it. I don't care what he says", is the firm reaction to Leclerc's statement a few days later. When it comes to George Russell a little later, Verstappen proves that Leclerc's remark has not made him any less vocal.

Verstappen on Russell's post race lie down

"It's a good moment to dramatically lie down in front of the camera," he said in response to the images of a disappointed Russell, whom he remembers from his time in karting. "I think he's one year younger, so I may have driven him for one or two years, but he sure is fast."
