In the opening round of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Romain Grosjean had a terrifying crash and the images of that crash are still frightening to many. The big fireball that arose and all the events surrounding it were enormously scary. In the end, the Frenchman was able to jump out of his Haas, but this weekend he isn't driving, and he is a doubt for the season ending Abu Dhabi GP.

The Frenchman has already indicated that he wants to drive an F1 car one more time, before saying goodbye to the sport for good. "I don't want to risk any additional injuries, just to go to Abu Dhabi. The story would of course be great," the Frenchman explains to Motorsport.com. "If that doesn't work out, I'll just call every F1 team to see if they want to organise a private test in January so I can do a couple of laps."

Grosjean in winning Mercedes?

Mercedes is the first team to respond to this and would certainly like to give the Frenchman a final test. "If we get permission to do that and the other teams he has driven with don't give him that option, we will," explains Toto Wolff. If that test takes place next year for Grosjean, it could still work out well for the Haas driver.

He will be allowed to drive the winning 2019 car of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. Mercedes' team boss indicates that the German team is one of the last options, so Grosjean would be better off looking at his current employer, Haas, and his previous employer, Renault. The Frenchman is now in the paddock, so he will probably be able to make a deal in the coming weeks.
