Drivers championship standings: Hamilton takes the title, Verstappen nears Bottas
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton has won the world championship in Turkey for the seventh time. Because his lead over Valtteri Bottas is now 110 points and there are only 78 points left to collect this season, the Brit has an unbridgeable lead. Because of Bottas' bad weekend, Max Verstappen is closer to second place.
With his victory in Istanbul, Hamilton has brilliantly won his championship. However, Bottas did not manage to win a single point in a dramatic race. As a result, Verstappen, who himself scored eight points, came to 27 points from Bottas. This does not mean that a second place in the final championship has yet to be lost.
Exciting battle for P4
Behind Verstappen, it will be very exciting for fourth place in the championship. The Dutchman doesn't have to expect any more threats and the drivers will therefore mainly fight each other for that fourth place. Sergio Perez, Charles Leclerc and Daniel Ricciardo are four points apart and behind them, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris and Alexander Albon are five points apart. Enough to fight for with three races to go.
