Norris does not follow Verstappen's example: 'I am not that confident'

Lando Norris went deep into the dust after his speech at the Grand Prix weekend in Portugal. The Brit apologised for statements about Lance Stroll and Lewis Hamilton and hopes that people can now see him again as that nice boy.
Norris said in an interview after the Portuguese Grand Prix that everyone would win races in the Mercedes car. It was no special statement, but in England, it was very poorly received, certainly by Hamilton fans. Norris saw the reactions and noticed that people felt very different from what he had intended.
Norris backs down
''I want to be a nice person who does the right things, but like everyone else, I get angry sometimes. On the onboard radio you can hear the emotions that are there because I want to do well for the team. If someone ruins it, that can sometimes be the last straw. The problem is that I'm on TV and people condemn me when I do that," says Norris in conversation with Auto, Motor und Sport.
After the race, Norris's statement about Hamilton didn't come across as he had intended. When asked now if he could beat Hamilton in the same car, Norris is cautious. ''Until then, I can't say that we are in the same car. Everyone knows that Lewis may be the best ever, but everyone is also jealous of Lewis and his team. I want to be in that position to win so much. Some say they would beat Lewis, but I'm not that confident to say that," concludes the Brit.
