The calendar for 2021 has been released and we start as we are used to in Australia. The organisers in Melbourne are working on a plan where the public can attend during the Grand Prix weekend.

Last year the opening of the season was postponed at the last minute because of the first coronavirus infections in the paddock. While the fans were queuing up at the circuit, it came out that the race would not go on at all.

Develop a plan for fan presence

Since coronavirus is still among us, it remains to be seen whether fans will be present next year. If it is up to Andrew Westacott. The CEO of the Australian Grand Prix wants to do everything he can to allow fans to come to Albert Park and is happy with the calendar. "We are delighted that the Formula One World Championship traditionally starts in Melbourne in 2021," Westacott begins.

"We continue to work closely with health authorities and the Victorian government as we develop our plans for fan attendance, which will be announced when finalised. We're adopting a sensible, adaptable and flexible approach, ensuring that a safe environment for fans and participants is our top priority. Our massive parkland venue with 10.6 kilometres of track frontage provides us with the perfect opportunity to create a COVID-safe venue." said Westacott to Motorsport.com.
