Will Lewis Hamilton still be driving Formula 1 in 2021? The lack of a new contract at Mercedes is working the rumour mill. And then there are some suggestive remarks from Hamilton himself.

Hamilton's future

In Imola, Hamilton received a question about the future from Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, who, like Hamilton, has an expiring contract.

"I don't even know if I will be here next year, so I'm not worried about anything like that at the moment," was the answer from the six-time world champion, quoted by Speedweek.com.

Chances are Hamilton is going to take his seventh world title this year and some people think that after this year, just like former teammate Nico Rosberg, he will quit Formula 1 after winning a world title.

Hamilton stays

Someone who certainly does not think that Hamilton will stop Formula 1 after this season is Sky Sports Formula 1's Martin Brundle.

"Hamilton continues to tease and torment with comments such as 'It's not certain that I'll see on the grid next year', although of course, he will be,” is the former Formula 1 driver's analysis.

Hamilton could already secure his seventh world title in the upcoming race in Turkey, putting him on an equal footing with Michael Schumacher.
