Happy as they are with their seventh manufacturer's title, celebrating in the Mercedes factories will be different this year, revealed technical director Andrew Shovlin to Racefans.net.

Due to the coronavirus, the Mercedes team will not be able to celebrate the way they usually do, explained Shovlin. “We're at quite low capacity in the factory now because we've dropped it again” , he explained. “People who can work from home are working from home and there won't be any gatherings."

“It's a strange one,” Shovlin said about this season's title win.

“One of the nicest things about winning championships in Formula 1 is the fact that you do it as a team and it's going to be strange not getting everyone together.”

Looking for "technological solutions"

Yet Shovlin is not going to sit back and do nothing; after all, they have conquered the title and will find an alternative way to celebrate it. "We're going to be leaning on technological solutions to try and have our celebrations and keep everyone together. I'm sure that we'll all find a way to celebrate it."
