For the time being, Mercedes does not have to offer Charles Leclerc a contract. The young Monegasque is comfortable in place at Ferrari and wants to return to the top of the pinnacle of motorsport with the Italian team.

"Mercedes are doing an excellent job, and I have a lot of respect for the way they work, but I would rather stay at Ferrari, where I will give everything I can to give the team back the place it deserves," Leclerc said after the Grand Prix at the Imola circuit in conversation with the German Sport Bild.

Ferrari on the way back

Ferrari were in a serious crisis at the start of this season, but now Mattia Binotto's race team seems to be on the better side. With Leclerc in the lead, top-five places are again being scored and so the road to the top has started.

"I love driving with Ferrari and I am proud of it, it is a legendary team in Formula 1", says Leclerc. "All I want now is to take our engine and car back to the highest level. I am pretty sure that we will be able to do that".
