Binotto has trouble with the pressure at Ferrari: 'We have to work hard to perform

Ferrari have gone backwards in 2020. The extra rules for the engine have meant that Ferrari have lost a great deal of power, putting them sixth in the standings. Mattia Binotto doesn't have much hope for 2021 either.
Ferrari outgunned in 2021
In recent years Ferrari have not always competed for the world title, but they have always been close to Mercedes. This year, however, the top three has become a top two with Mercedes and Red Bull Racing, as Ferrari have completely lost out due to the inferior engine. Upgrades are planned for 2021, but Binotto is not going to dream yet.
''We have to be realistic and see that there is no chance of winning the world title in 2021. However, we do want to return to the podium regularly. In 2022, with the new cars, the cards are shuffled again and we hope to be able to win again," says Ferrari's team boss.
The pressure at Binotto
''The rules of 2022 are very strict, so there is hardly any room to come up with something unique. For Formula 1 this is only good, because drivers can fight more with each other. Today's cars are very aerodynamically sensitive'', says the Italian, who has come under fire recently.
''That which comes from outside is what I find most difficult to filter. These assessments and external pressure are sometimes difficult to manage, but that helps my family enormously. It's also okay for people to say what they think and as Ferrari we know that the pressure on our team is different. We have to work hard to perform under this pressure'', concludes Binotto to Sky Italia.
