Part of the race on the circuit of Imola saw a duel between Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas, which Verstappen eventually won. However, he lost his second place again to Bottas when he fell out due to a tire blowout.
Valtteri Bottas elaborates on his race and the fight with Verstappen at the FIA press conference after the race.
"My start played a big role today, it was good. But at turn seven there were wreckage, I didn't have time to dodge it". He saw the wreckage, but couldn't do more than limit the damage.
"I tried not to drive over it with the tires, but apparently it did cause damage somewhere, because the car was hard to drive from that point," explains Bottas.
Over the limit
Asked about his fight with Verstappen, Bottas says it took him a lot of effort to keep him away. "I had to push really hard not to let Max pass. I had to drive over my limit, so I started to make mistakes."
Bottas finished the race in second place after Verstappen was forced to finish the race due to a puncture.
